The Narcissist Playbook — What no one is talking about. While the documentary The Narcissist Playbook is a well-made and educational tool for raising awareness about narcissism, the production raises serious ethical questions regarding choices, accountability, and priorities. In this video, I address the timeline surrounding the film's major "twist" - the exposure of a featured expert abusing his therapy clients - and examine the human cost of delaying this information. I am addressing 3 concerns: 1. Sitting on information about an alleged dangerous predator for four years: The critical facts were uncovered in 2022. Why did it take four years, until the film's release, to get this information out to the public? 2. "Don’t spoil the twist" - but at what expense? When entertainment value and plot protection are prioritized over protecting potential new victims. While the twist is an inherent part of the film, the movie holds its own and does not need to be sold on a twist. The issue lies in the promotional strategy; marketing the movie based on the twist inherently results in crucial information being withheld. 3. The predator's name is still not mentioned on the official website: Why is the predator’s identity still being withheld on the official platform, leaving potential new victims without a clear warning? What matters more - protecting potential new victims, or making a documentary with a twist? Is collateral damage acceptable in the process of creating a film?
