The world’s rivers just had one of their driest years in decades. Lake Mead is at a record low — about 26% full. Lake Powell sits near 21% — a few dozen feet above the line where Glen Canyon Dam stops making power. California, Arizona, and Nevada are already on federally ordered cuts through 2028. Corpus Christi got rain and bought time. Choke Canyon is still at 22%. A pipeline leak is pulling extra water from the western reservoirs. Two buckets. One tap. Both running low.
