What is it about hiking alone that keeps bringing me back? I headed into Banff National Park for a solo hike up Mt. Bourgeau, starting early enough to be the first person on the trail. This was one of those days where the Canadian Rockies felt completely empty. I made my way past Bourgeau Lake and Harvey Lake, up to Harvey Pass, with views stretching toward Healy Pass and the surrounding mountains. From the summit of Mt. Bourgeau, the views opened up across Banff National Park and toward Sunshine Village. The day was smoky from late-summer wildfire conditions, but the atmosphere actually made the mountains feel even more dramatic. Along the way, I talk about some of the reasons I enjoy hiking alone - the freedom, the quiet, the challenge, and simply being able to experience the mountains at my own pace. This is a cinematic hiking vlog filmed in Banff National Park on my Canon R6 Mark II with a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 and PolarPro filter.
