IELTS Listening New Test 25, Every Answer Explained: Why Roman Concrete Mends Its Own Cracks

Practice Test 25 is a complete IELTS-style Listening test in the real exam's format: four parts, 40 questions and the exam's own reading and checking time. Part 1 is a form and notes: a sixteen-year-old student phones a town cinema to apply for a Saturday job, and you note her name, age, subjects, past work, start date and what the job asks of her. Part 2 is multiple choice and matching: on local radio, a council transport officer explains a new e-scooter hire trial, how it is paid for, who may ride, and what the scooters do on the High Street, the riverside path, at the station, the hospital and the university. Part 3 is choices and matching: two sports science students talk through a small trial of recovery methods with their university hockey squad, from ice baths and massage to stretching and sleep, and plan their report. Part 4 is note completion on part of a lecture about why Roman concrete has lasted two thousand years: volcanic ash, the sea, and lumps of lime that heal its cracks. The answer key, a band guide and an explanation for every answer come at the end. It is original, not taken from a Cambridge book, so you will not have heard it before. How to use it Keep a pen and paper beside you and write each answer as you hear it. Play the test straight through without pausing, as in the exam. Mark your answers with the key at the end and find your band. Read the explanation for every answer you got wrong.
