The Right And Wrong Way To Design Giant Robots

So I had a rule going into this one... similar to the giant monsters one. Look at a machine, know what problem it was built to solve. Clean. Works on cranes, works on fire trucks, works on forklifts. Then the third robot broke it.... so what is the better rule? You tell me.
