An Aberdeenshire burgh on the Moray Coast. This is a very brief look at ROSEHEARTY during the hay day of the herring fishing. This was one large curing station with twelve large curers and many smaller, with Red Herring kilns throughout the burgh. One hundred herring drifters harboured here; many turning to great line fishing after the herring season ended. Then Mary Downie , nicknamed BLACK MARIA after her arrest during the fish worker's strike, where she urged and led thousands on a protest march in Yarmouth .
