On April 18, 1906, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake on the San Andreas Fault struck San Francisco, and the fires that followed burned for four days. More than 3,000 people died, up to 300,000 were left homeless and over 80 percent of the city was destroyed. This documentary follows the fault, 42 seconds of shaking, the fires and the dynamite, the Army in the streets, the hidden toll and how the city rebuilt.
