DIY: Installing Zeitronix FLEX FUEL Sensor (E85 Ethanol content analyzer), How & Why you need one!

We all know that Ethanol is the magical solution to getting big power easily, but how can we protect our expensive engines if we get a bad batch of fuel from the pump? Today we get our Time attack 180sx set up for running variations of fuel (stay tuned for another episode where we actually compare different fuels and run back to back dyno runs getting max power from each fuel type). We show you how to install this very simple device that can easily be utilised by your car's ECU to adjust fuel mapping and ignition timing to compensate for variations in the alcohol content of your fuel. Variations of ethanol content can come as a result of a bad batch of fuel, or from draining your tank of one type of fuel and replacing with another. In our testing we found that even a small amount of standard 98 octane left in the bottom of your tank was enough to vary the ethanol content readout by up to 20%! If you run a full E85 tune then you could potentially kill your engine if you dont adjust the ignition and fuelling accordingly.
