Replacing the starter motor on my MR2

After sitting for 5 months, my Toyota MR2 decided it wasn't going to start. Turns out, the starter motor had seized, so it was time to get my hands dirty and attempt a repair I'd never done before! The car had previously been fitted with a cheap aftermarket starter motor that wasn't recommended for this engine, so I decided to swap it out for an OEM Rev 5 Toyota MR2 starter instead. With absolutely no experience doing this particular job, I was hoping for the best. And somehow, by a bit of magic, the car actually started! But getting it started wasn't the whole story. When we first needed to bring the car home, we had to roll it down a hill and bump start it just to get it moving.
