In this video, I’m designing a 3D printable threaded lid container in SolidWorks from scratch and testing the design with a real 3D print.
The main focus of this project is getting the thread clearance and tolerances right for FDM 3D printing. I’ll show how I adjust the threaded parts and other dimensions so the lid can be printed successfully and the threads can work properly without being too tight.
After completing the SolidWorks 3D model, I take the design into Bambu Studio and prepare it for printing. I then 3D print the actual container using a Bambu Lab A1 Mini and test the finished parts to see how well the threaded lid fits, screws on and off, and functions in real life.
