Blessing comes down. Praise rises up.
Praise Rising — A Doxology began with the historic words of Thomas Ken’s 17th-century doxology:
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
But those four lines opened the door to something much larger.
Scripture shows every good and perfect gift coming down from the Father of lights. It calls the soul to remember His mercy, forgiveness, healing, and redemption. It summons the heavens, the earth, the angels, creation, and everything that has breath to praise the Lord.
And in Christ, we discover that God has given us far more than earthly blessings: redemption, forgiveness, adoption, the Holy Spirit, resurrection hope, and eternal life.
Everything is from Him, through Him, and to Him.
So the song begins with blessing descending from God and gradually widens until praise rises from the redeemed soul, through the Church, through creation, and finally toward the throne and the Lamb.
“To You our lives and praise are rising.”
Because true worship is more than the song we sing.
It is the life we surrender.
