The Forum: Wednesday August 19, 2026

From the Wednesday morning August 19, 2026 meeting of The Forum inside Cascade Hall on the campus of Colorado Mesa University Montrose. Kenn Huff is president of the Montrose County Historical Society. He was born and raised on the Western Slope. He is a graduate of Olathe High School and Western (State College) Colorado University where he studied under Dr. Duane Vandenbushe. Kenn was a High School classroom history and other social studies teacher for 34 years in Idaho and eastern Colorado, retiring in 2003. He returned to the Uncompahgre Valley in 2012. He has been a member of the board of the Historical Society since 2015 and has served as president since 2017. The Historical Society formed in 1968 and the museum opened in the former Denver & Rio Grande railroad depot in the early 1970s. The museum is located at 21 N Rio Grande in downtown Montrose. It is open May 1 to September 30 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 – 2:00 on Saturday. For further information: info@montrosehistory.org or (970) 249-2085.
