On 19th July 1988, Placido Domingo as a special guest with Antologia de la Zarzuela, introducing this Spanish art form to China, performed at Great Hall of the People (人民大会堂), Beijing, China. He received numerous thunderous ovation during the performances, Domingo's second visit to mainland China was in 2001 for three concerts, concert on 5th January 2001 in Shanghai at Shanghai Grand Theatre (上海大剧院) , concert on 29th May 2001 in Beijing at Great Hall of the People (人民大会堂) , and with The Three Tenors on 23rd June 2001 at Forbidden City (紫禁城午门广场) in Beijing.
