Lasting Happiness — What the Buddha Meant by the Unconditioned
The Buddha identified a fundamental problem with happiness — every happiness we know depends on conditions, and conditions always change. He spent six years searching for a happiness that depends on nothing at all, and he called what he found the Unconditioned — Nibbāna, the highest bliss. The path he laid out is gradual, practical, and each step along the way carries its own form of happiness, deeper than the one before.
