1985 Yamaha YZ250 Does it need just a top end, part 1.

When I got this bike, the last owner told me the top end went out. He said when he took off it made a ton of noise and died. It is missing a bunch of parts and needs new plastics, no big deal they are out there and not to much $. But anyways, I figured it would be a good bike to fix up and pass along, the price was almost free. Come along while I dig into the engine to see what actually it is going to need.
