Did you know that we, Christians are bigots? That we are homophobes? That we hate and suppress women? That we’re racist and such. At least that's what we're told, especially when you look online and elsewhere.
I was directly asked and taught during University in one of my Christian classes that Christians are bigots, homophobes, and that we suppress women and we endorse slavery. (bear in mind it's a secular school).
Now of these statements, what I was taught and what I see online is the reason why people believe Christians are all these things is because of one man…Not Jesus, but Paul. Jesus was the loving guy who healed and forgave everyone but Paul was the hateful one (at least that’s what I was taught) according Ephesians 6:5 (Slavery), 1 Corinthians 14:34–35 and 1 Timothy 2:11–12 (Women in ministry), and Romans 1:26–27 and 1 Corinthians 6:9 (homosexuality).
So this is the question that we are going to deal with today: Because of those supposed hateful verses that come from Paul, does that make him an Apostle of Christ or a heretic?
