Distance: 28 km, elevation gain: 1,600 meters 03:34 First river crossing: the water was low enough in late summer to cross on foot, and also there were several people waiting to cross at the cable 04:56 Paso del Viento: it was difficult to stand in the wind lower on the approach, but interestingly the wind was less severe up higher near the pass 05:38 Paso del Viento Camp: this was a windy place to set up camp, but there are many places for a tent and plenty of water 06:27 Day 2: Paso del Viento Camp to Bahia de Hornos Camp. Distance: 16.5 km, elevation gain: 500 meters 08:43 Paso Huemul 09:33 Camp Bahia de Hornos 11:07 Day 3: Bahia de Hornos Camp to El Chaltén. Distance: 21.5 km, elevation gain: 630 meters 12:15 Second river crossing: the river was much stronger at this point.
