Weekend Road Trip to Al Wathba Fossil Dunes, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Overview Al Wathba Fossil Dunes are formations of wind-swept sand, permeated with calcium carbonate and hence hardened to form distinct, varied and abstract natural desert sculptures. The area, close to Al Wathba Wetland Reserve, offers visitors the chance to view nature the artist at work. While one should take great care at the dunes in order neither touch nor disturb their structures, it is equally a place to camp and explore the rest of the surrounding desert environment.
