Ardbeg Lord of the Isles began as a core-range 25 year old whisky and later became a sought-after collector’s bottle. In the first episode of Core Range Kings, I explore its history, presentation and historical auction performance. We examine the distinctive box inspired by the Monymusk Reliquary, the story behind the Lord of the Isles name, and the scroll and bottle inside. I then follow price examples from its approximately £100 original retail offering through auction results discussed up to 2022.
