Riding a boat along Saen Saep Canal is a fun and affordable way to see a different side of Bangkok. It also can take you to places other transportation options don't go. Bang Kapi Mall is about 35 minutes from Asoke Pier by boat. There is no subway or train option but you can take a bus or cab, both of which will take longer depending on traffic. The boat is loud and can be crowded but you will see things you would otherwise miss. Saen Sarp Canal (Khlong Saen Saep) was constructed between 1837 and 1840 as a way to transport soldiers and supplies during a conflict between Siam (Thailand) and Annam (Vietnam) over Cambodia. It is 72 km long and passes through 21 districts, connecting to more than 100 smaller canals. Public boat service is available on part of it but private boats use it for transportation as well. 00:20 Phetchaburi MRT Station 02:00 Asoke Pier 02:40 Watch a boat arrive and depart 03:30 Our boat is arriving 03:55 Board the boat 04:35 Leave Asoke Pier 05:30 Prasarnmit (WSU) Pier 07:55 Ital-Thai Tower Pier 10:24 Ban Don Mosque Pier 11:54 Thong Lo Boat Station 13:04 Chan Issara Pier 15:12 Wichita Witthaya School Pier 17:22 Khlong Tan Pier 22:22 The Mall 3 Pier 24:15 Ramkhamhaeng 29 Pier 25:19 Wat Thepleela Pier 26:56 Ramkhamhaeng University Pier 28:55 Saphan Mit Mahat Thai Pier 29:02 Kid jumps into the canal 32:17 Wat Klang Pier 35:45 Bang Kapi Mall Pier (Destination) ©2022 by Adam Healy.
