Commodore 64 Ultimate - Top 5 Sega Sprite Scalers

Today I'm counting down my Top 5 Sega sprite-scaling games on the Commodore 64 Ultimate. Some of these conversions are technical masterpieces, some are surprisingly playable, and one of them completely changed my opinion while making this video! #5 - Super Hang-On A motorcycle that feels slower than my e-bike despite the turbo being red hot. The sense of speed simply isn't there, making this the biggest disappointment on the list. #4 - Space Harrier (Sega Version) Smooth line-scrolling effects, excellent playability, and a surprisingly faithful recreation of the arcade experience. A very impressive conversion that still holds up today. #3 - OutRun Europa This was the biggest surprise of the entire video. Faster scrolling than Turbo OutRun, beautifully drawn sprites, and effects I honestly didn't expect to see on an 8-bit machine. The jet ski beach landing completely blew my mind. After finishing the recording, I continued playing and eventually realized this should probably have been my #1 pick! #2 - Thunder Blade An incredible technical achievement featuring camera transitions, parallax scrolling, multiple viewpoints, and gameplay that remains surprisingly enjoyable. One of the most ambitious Sega conversions ever created for the Commodore 64. #1 - Power Drift Fast, smooth, playable, and visually impressive. The developers found a clever way to recreate the feel of the arcade version while keeping the game running smoothly. A fantastic example of how to work with the strengths of the Commodore 64 rather than fighting against its limitations. Funny enough, after recording this video and spending more time with OutRun Europa, my personal ranking changed: OutRun Europa Power Drift Thunder Blade But at the time of recording, Power Drift was still my undisputed champion!
