In this video, students learn about the Human Circulatory System, an important part of the Transportation life process in human beings. The circulatory system is responsible for transporting essential substances such as oxygen, nutrients, hormones and other materials to different parts of the body. At the same time, it helps carry carbon dioxide and metabolic wastes away from body tissues. The lesson begins with the Human Heart, the muscular pumping organ of the circulatory system. Students learn about the basic structure of the heart, its four chambers — right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium and left ventricle — and how the heart continuously pumps blood throughout the body. Students are then introduced to Blood, the fluid connective tissue that transports substances through the body.
