Ghazwa e Khandaq Ka Muqam – A Historic Ziyarat in Madina | Ziyarat-e-Madina Ep 6 Muqaam-e-Khandaq refers to the historic site near Medina, Saudi Arabia, where the famous Battle of the Trench (Ghazwa-e-Khandaq) took place in 627 CE (5th year of Hijrah). This battle holds great significance in Islamic history. When the Quraysh and other allied tribes marched toward Medina to attack the Muslims, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, upon the suggestion of Salman al-Farsi (RA), ordered the digging of a deep trench along the vulnerable northern border of the city. This unconventional defense strategy proved highly effective, as the enemy forces were unable to cross the trench, leading to a failed siege. Today, the site of the trench is a historical landmark in Medina. Though much of the original trench no longer exists, the area is visited by many pilgrims and holds spiritual and historical value as a symbol of unity, faith, and strategic wisdom.
