Minister Chan Chun Sing on the Government’s Response to the 2026 Review of Political Salaries

The Government has accepted an independent committee’s recommendations to revise the salary framework for political officeholders and Members of Parliament. The framework will continue to be guided by three core principles: Ensuring calibre by taking reference from market benchmarks so capable individuals are not deterred from stepping forward; Show of commitment through a discounted wage to reflect the ethos of public service; and Maintaining a clean and transparent wage structure. The recommendations also include the updating of national bonus targets to drive better outcomes.
