Quick to Listen

Verses: James 1:19–27 Summary: James calls believers to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. The Word must be received humbly, like seed in soil, and then obeyed. Hearing without doing is self-deception, like glancing in a mirror and forgetting what you saw; but the one who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom and does it will be blessed. Religion that God accepts as pure and faultless bridles the tongue, looks after orphans and widows in their distress, and keeps itself unpolluted by the world. Real faith listens first and then does what the Word says.
