Kim Junho's Last World Championships 🇰🇷 | Incredible 8th Leg Comeback | Korea vs China | 김준호

2023 FIE World Fencing Championships Men's Team Sabre Quarterfinal 🇰🇷 South Korea (대한민국) vs 🇨🇳 China (中国) One of the most significant matches of the 2023 World Championships—and the final international competition of Kim Junho's (김준호) career with the Korean National Team. While this quarterfinal is remembered for another dominant Korean performance, it also contains one of Kim Junho's finest moments. In the eighth leg, with Korea under pressure, Kim produced a brilliant comeback to reclaim the lead before handing the match over to OH Sanguk (오상욱) for the final bout. It proved to be one of the defining moments of his international career. ──────────────────── Why this match mattered South Korea entered Milan as the defending Olympic and World Champions. From 2017 onwards, Korea had dominated international men's sabre, winning: 🥇 2017 World Championships 🥇 2018 World Championships 🥇 2019 World Championships 🥇 Tokyo Olympic Games 🥇 2022 World Championships However, the 2023 season had been far from straightforward. The Korean team suffered injuries to both OH Sanguk (오상욱) and Kim Junghwan (김정환), while coaches experimented with new line-ups including DO Gyeongdong (도경동), PARK Sangwon (박상원) and HA Hansol (하한솔). Questions were beginning to be asked about whether Korea's dominance was coming to an end after surprising defeats earlier in the season, including the loss to Georgia at the Madrid World Cup. Despite those setbacks, Korea once again demonstrated why they remained the world's strongest men's sabre team. ──────────────────── Kim Junho's Final International Competition For Kim Junho (김준호), this would be the final international competition of his career with the Korean National Team. After years of helping establish one of the greatest teams in fencing history—including Olympic and World Championship victories—he delivered one final memorable performance. The defining moment came during the eighth leg. With momentum beginning to swing towards China, Kim produced a superb comeback, overturning the deficit and restoring Korea's lead before OH Sanguk fenced the anchor leg. It was a fitting final contribution from one of Korea's most important sabreurs. Many Korean viewers also know Kim Junho through the popular television programme **슈퍼맨이 돌아왔다 (The Return of Superman)**, but before becoming a familiar TV personality he was one of the key members of the greatest era in Korean men's sabre. ──────────────────── Team Korea 🇰🇷 대한민국 OH Sanguk (오상욱) Kim Junho (김준호) GU Bongil (구본길) HA Hansol (하한솔) (Sub) South Korea entered Milan seeking to defend their World Championship title and continue an unprecedented run of success in international men's sabre. ──────────────────── Team China 🇨🇳 中国 LIN Xiao (林霄) SHEN Chenpeng (沈晨鹏) YAN Yinghui (严赢辉) LIANG Jianhao (梁建豪) (Sub) China had shown clear improvement during the 2023 season, finishing fourth at the Luxardo World Cup and winning a bronze medal at the Asian Championships. ──────────────────── Featured Olympic & World Champions 🇰🇷 OH Sanguk (오상욱) • Paris 2024 Olympic Individual Champion • Olympic Team Champion • World Champion • Former World No.1 🇰🇷 Kim Junho (김준호) • Tokyo 2020 Olympic Team Champion • World Champion • Asian Championship Silver Medallist 🇰🇷 GU Bongil (구본길) • Olympic Champion • Multiple World Champion ──────────────────── Chapters 0:00 Introduction 0:11 (1/9) LIN Xiao vs OH Sanguk (오상욱) 3:04 (2/9) SHEN Chenpeng vs GU Bongil (구본길) 5:44 (3/9) YAN Yinghui vs Kim Junho (김준호) 9:26 (4/9) LIN Xiao vs GU Bongil (구본길) 13:16 (5/9) YAN Yinghui vs OH Sanguk (오상욱) 16:23 (6/9) SHEN Chenpeng vs HA Hansol (하한솔) 19:40 (7/9) YAN Yinghui vs GU Bongil (구본길) 23:06 (8/9) LIN Xiao vs Kim Junho (김준호) ⭐ Kim Junho's comeback leg 27:01 (9/9) SHEN Chenpeng vs OH Sanguk (오상욱) ──────────────────── 한국어 2023 밀라노 세계펜싱선수권대회 남자 사브르 단체 8강 대한민국 🇰🇷 vs 중국 🇨🇳 이 경기는 김준호 선수의 국가대표 마지막 국제대회이자 마지막 세계선수권 경기입니다. The Return of Superman Kim Junho OH Sanguk GU Bongil South Korea Fencing Korea vs China Men's Team Sabre World Championships #김준호 #오상욱 #구본길 #슈퍼맨이돌아왔다 #대한민국펜싱 #남자사브르 #세계펜싱선수권 #SabreFencing #WorldChampionships #Fencing
