CYNDI LAUPER Misty Blue

The iconic and simply amazing Cyndi Lauper continues to showcase her versatile musical repertoire with a cover of the Dorothy Moore 1975 smash 'Misty Blue'. The song was penned by Bob Montgomery in 1966 (therefore this post is marking the 50th anniversary of the composition), and purportedly there have been some 200 versions of the song across those 50 years. First offered to Brenda Lee (who turned it down), the song has been interpreted as a pop, country, r&b and jazz record. Here in the hands of Cyndi Lauper it is returned to the original feel of Montgomery's writing. Found on her 2016 album 'Detour', Misty Blue has found another perfect host in the Grammy/Tony winning vocalist. It's a thing of beauty.
