All Of High School Physics Explained in 12 Minutes
High school physics is taught as eleven chapters that seem to have nothing to do with each other: falling balls, then waves, then circuits, then the nucleus. Most people pass the tests one chapter at a time and never notice that every chapter is asking the same two questions.
Daniel from Simplex Academy walks through the whole course in the order it is taught, and asks those two questions of each topic in turn - what is pushing on it, and where does its energy go. Motion, forces, energy, momentum, circular motion and gravity, waves, sound and light, heat, electricity, magnetism and the nucleus, each built from a picture first and a number second.
In this video:
The one sentence that explains all of high school physics
Motion - five metres, then twenty: what acceleration really is
Forces - Newton's three laws, and the myth that moving things need a push
Energy - work, potential and kinetic energy, and why it is never lost
Momentum - two skaters, a total of zero, and how a crumple zone protects you
Circular motion and gravity - why a snapped string sends the ball straight on
Waves - energy that travels while the water stays put
Sound and light - thunder, the speed of light, and why a straw looks broken
Heat - temperature as jiggling particles, and why heat only flows downhill
Electricity - charge, current, voltage, resistance and Ohm's law
Magnetism - Oersted's compass, electromagnets, motors and generators
Atoms and nuclei - radiation, half-life and E = mc squared
The one force behind almost every push you have ever felt
By the end, the course will read as one story, and you will know which question every chapter is answering.
Every figure in this video was checked against the source literature before recording.
