Framer Opare | Last Episode of Ooty-Coorg Series | Raja Seat, Coorg Chocolates, Dark Hilly Road Adventure & Mysore Palace Welcome back to Framer Opare! This is the final episode of our Ooty-Coorg series, and what a rollercoaster of emotions, views, and unexpected moments it turned out to be. In the previous vlog we explored the thundering beauty of Abbey Falls — the mist, the roar of the water, the lush greenery surrounding us. That chapter closed with pure mountain magic. Now the road takes us deeper into the heart of Madikeri for one last full day of exploration before we say goodbye to Coorg. We start early and head straight to the iconic Raja Seat. Sitting on that viewpoint feels like the mountains themselves are putting on a private show just for us. Layers of green hills roll endlessly into the horizon, the valley dips dramatically below, and the cool Coorg breeze carries the scent of coffee and wet earth. We spend a long time just sitting there, soaking in the silence and the scale of it all — the perfect pause after the intensity of Abbey Falls. From Raja Seat the mood shifts completely as we dive into the lively streets of Madikeri for some serious shopping. Coorg is famous for its handmade souvenirs, spices, and local crafts, and we hop from one shop to another, picking up little pieces of the place to take home. But the real highlight? The legendary Coorg chocolate shops. We walk into those aromatic stores filled with dark, milk, and flavoured chocolates made from local cocoa, tasting sample after sample until we can’t decide what to buy. The rich, slightly bitter notes of pure Coorg chocolate are something else — we end up with bags full of bars, some plain, some with coffee, some with nuts, all promising to bring the flavour of these hills back with us. By the time we finish shopping and exploring, the sun has already started dipping. We leave Madikeri later than planned, hoping to reach our resort before it gets completely dark. But the hills have other ideas. The road back is a classic Coorg mountain stretch — narrow, winding, and suddenly swallowed by darkness. Street lights disappear. Houses become rare. There are almost no vehicles and, for long stretches, no people at all. At one point we find ourselves completely stranded on that hilly road. The car slows, the path feels endless, and the only sounds are the engine and the occasional rustle of leaves in the thick forest on either side. It is eerie, beautiful, and a little nerve-wracking all at once. We keep going carefully, headlights cutting through the black, hearts racing a bit, laughing nervously at how dramatically the day has turned. Eventually we make it through the darkness and roll into the resort much later than expected — tired, relieved, and carrying a story we will tell for years. But the journey isn’t over yet. On our way back towards Bangalore we make a meaningful stop at Mysore. After days of misty hills and waterfalls, the grandeur of Mysore Palace hits differently. We walk through the complex, take in the Indo-Saracenic architecture, the glowing lights, the intricate details, and even step inside the quieter corners that hold temples like the Sri Prasanna Krishnaswamy Temple. It feels like the perfect cultural full-stop to an adventure that began in the mountains of Ooty and Coorg. This episode is pure Framer Opare — the planned beauty of Raja Seat and chocolate shops, the unplanned thrill of a dark, empty hilly road, and the majestic closing chapter at Mysore Palace.
