The Server Browser is finally almost here, and I’m treating it like the late arrival it is. Battlefield Studios calls it a core Battlefield feature, yet it’s only arriving a year into the most expensive Battlefield ever made: four studios, over a thousand developers, and a $400 million budget. It’s also been bumped up from December to a small public test starting November 10th, right as Season 5 struggles. I don’t blame the developers. I think EA held this back as content to time against Call of Duty, and now it’s rushing it out. For those still sticking around, here’s how it works. The browser joins official lobbies, player-hosted servers, verified Portal presets, and custom sandboxes in one hub. Joining through it keeps you in one persistent server, while Quickplay still rotates you. Player-hosted servers run on dedicated EA servers, so you can walk away, and they close after seven days with no players.
