From Plato and Aristotle to modern philosophy, three arguments have occupied a central place in this debate: The Cosmological Argument The Teleological Argument The Ontological Argument These arguments have often been regarded as among the most powerful philosophical proofs for the existence of God. Yet Allama Muhammad Iqbal critically examined and ultimately rejected their adequacy as genuine proofs of the Divine. But why? If these classical arguments cannot adequately prove God, does that mean God cannot be known? Or does Iqbal point us toward an entirely different way of understanding our relationship with the Divine? In this study circle, we explore one of the most fascinating and least discussed dimensions of Iqbal’s philosophy: Why did Iqbal reject the classical proofs of God and what alternative vision of religious experience, knowledge and Divine reality did he offer?
