FileMaker Web Viewers: When JavaScript Just Makes Sense

JavaScript and FileMaker can make a powerful combination, especially when you use each one for what it does best. In episode 34 of the FileMaker DevCast, Joe brings multiple real-world examples of JavaScript tools built to extend FileMaker, including a lightweight startup screen, responsive data pickers, and a flexible interface for generating batches of records. The devs discuss building JavaScript tools locally, passing JSON between FileMaker and Web Viewers, and how newer FileMaker capabilities could open up even more possibilities. And then there’s AI: they talk about using AI to generate sample data, troubleshoot code, and even modernize a decade-old startup screen (with some surprisingly overcomplicated results). -------------------- The Portage Bay Solutions team of Certified FileMaker developers has a deep understanding of the Claris FileMaker platform and is experienced in helping businesses customize and extend the software to meet specific needs.
