The pergola build continues, and this time it's all about the joinery. In Part 2, I cut two traditional Japanese timber joints entirely by hand: the Watari Ago Niju Hozo Shiguchi and the Kanawa Tsugi. There is a lot of marking, sawing, chiseling, planing, fitting, and removing just a little bit more wood until everything comes together. And, because apparently hand-cutting complicated timber joints isn't enough for one day, there's also a little burger break along the way. 🍔 This is part of my ongoing backyard pergola project, built using traditional Japanese joinery and hand tools. No talking. No music. Best enjoyed with headphones. Just wood, steel, shavings, burgers, and the quiet rhythm of building something by hand. Watch part 1, where I am scribing the timber posts to natural stone:    • Building a Timber Pergola | Part 1 — Scrib...   Follow my journey:   / gabrielbucataru_   #woodworking #japanesejoinery #timberframing
