4K Camera Entered Göbekli Tepe's Sealed Chamber — UNSEEN Footage Revealed Everything that survived twelve thousand years at Göbekli Tepe survived for one reason. The people who built it buried it themselves. Around eight thousand BCE they filled every enclosure to the rim with rubble and animal bone and sealed the hill under tons of earth, and they left the pillars standing upright inside the fill rather than toppling them. In this one I go through what the cameras found inside those chambers. Two central pillars in Enclosure D, five and a half metres tall and eight to ten tons each, which are not columns but faceless figures with arms running down the shaft, fingers meeting above a belt, and a fox pelt below it. Carvings that are overwhelmingly predators rather than prey, which is the opposite of a hunting inventory. Three human skulls cut with deep grooves, painted with ochre, one drilled through so it could hang. A hundred thousand animal bone fragments and limestone vessels holding up to a hundred and sixty litres with residue suggesting fermented cereal, at a site that predates farming. Around five percent opened, more than two hundred pillars still underground, and new enclosures appearing every time a scanner crosses the slope.
