The Armenian National Trail | The vision, the people, and the journey behind it

The Armenian National Trail is an ambitious vision to create a nearly 1,000-kilometer hiking trail stretching from north to south across Armenia, connecting five regions, dozens of communities, and countless stories along the way. But what does it take to build a national trail? In this film, hear from the people helping bring this vision to life. Edele Hovnanian, Chairman of the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation, shares the big idea behind the Armenian National Trail and why it is much more than a hiking trail. Shahané Halajyan, Executive director at HIKEArmenia, and Artur Hakobyan, Trail maintenance project manager, take us behind the scenes of trail scouting, route development, working with local communities, and the ongoing effort to create a world-class village-to-village hiking experience in Armenia. From mountain ridges and forests to guesthouses and village tables, the Armenian National Trail is being built step by step, kilometer by kilometer, by a community of people who believe that trails have the power to connect landscapes, cultures, and people.
