Can a pizza company really support its advertising claims with actual product measurements? In this practical Business Analytics case study, we explore the Pizza Size War between Eagle Boys and Domino’s in Australia during 2011–2012. Using 250 actual pizza diameter measurements, we investigate how data can reveal differences that may not be obvious from a simple comparison. *What you will learn in Part 1:* Understanding the business context behind the Pizza Size War Measuring pizza diameter and working with sample data Organising raw measurements into frequency distributions Comparing two brands using frequency tables and charts Calculating and interpreting the arithmetic mean Examining the difference between a larger average and a 12-inch product claim Understanding variance and standard deviation Why two groups can have the same average but very different consistency *Key takeaway:* An average tells us only part of the story. Frequency distributions show where observations cluster, while variance helps us understand how widely measurements spread around the average. This is Part 1 of our Pizza Size War case study. In the next part, we will explore the original business claims and introduce statistical hypothesis testing to examine what the evidence can support. *Presented by Prolander Tech | Business Analytics* Learn to move from business data to meaningful insights and better decisions. #BusinessAnalytics #DataAnalytics #Statistics #FrequencyDistribution #Mean #Variance #StandardDeviation #ProlanderTech
