Storm Over the Black Pines — Autumn Rain, Wind & Low Thunder | 10 HOURS

I kept turning the thunder down while building this one. Not because it sounded bad, but because every time it got louder the forest felt less believable. The rain is doing the obvious work, but most of the atmosphere is actually coming from the layers underneath it. Wind moving through different parts of the trees, distant rumbles, and a lot of empty space between sounds. There aren't many sharp foreground elements in this mix. Everything sits a little farther away. By the end, it felt less like listening to a storm and more like standing in the middle of a very large forest while one passed through somewhere nearby. 💙 All compositions created by Michael Nielsen
