Beyond Blame: Breaking the Stigma of Alcohol Use Disorder and Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease

Stigma remains one of the least visible, yet potentially most consequential, barriers to effective liver care. For people living with alcohol use disorder and alcohol-associated liver disease, stigma can influence whether individuals disclose alcohol use, seek treatment, engage with healthcare providers, adhere to follow-up care, or access potentially life-saving interventions. The webinar brings together clinical expertise, emerging research on liver disease stigma and, importantly, the lived experience and perspective of patients to explore a central question: What happens when stigma becomes a barrier to liver care and how can patients, clinicians and advocates work together to remove it?
