Come and see the film location of Chocolat with Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp and Dame Judy Denc

This time we visit the medieval village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain in Burgundy (Bourgogne). Apart from being a beautiful old village, it is also home to "Les Anis de Flavigny", anise candies that monks have made here since at least 1591. Today, the Troubat family makes them. The Benedictine monks founded the Flavigny Abbey in 719, but there is not much left of the buildings. What is also interesting is that Flavigny was a film location for a big part of the romance movie "Chocolat" from 2000, starring Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, Alfred Molina and Dame Judith Dench ("M"). For the night, we stayed at the Domaine de Flavigny-Alésia, which is also a France Passion host. When we visited, the parking lot next to the village was still open for campers, but now there is a height limit. This little issue is solved by the new Camping-Car Park area a bit further outside Flavigny.
