Gentlemen Prefer Blondes... and my thoughts

I watched Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes before I ever touched the book, and now I can't unsee what 1953 changed. Two women wearing the same name, twenty-eight years apart, and I walked away wanting the one thing neither of them got to have. For anyone who's ever been told to pick a lane. This is Anita Loos's 1925 novel Gentlemen Prefer Blondes against the Marilyn Monroe movie it became, and how different those two Loreleis actually turn out to be. I get into what happened to Dorothy specifically, why the book's ending is so much colder than the musical everyone remembers, and one movie quote I had wrong until I went and checked it. There's also a stretch about Anita Loos herself, who might be the actual answer to the whole argument. If you've only ever seen the movie, or only read the book, this fills in the other half.
