Riverside - Downtown 5/16/26 - BNSF & Amtrak Trains

Decided to check out/visit a spot that I haven't railfanned before. Riverside - Downtown is quite interesting in appearance. The overhead walkway really pops out with the big arch in the middle, combined with the station name just above the walkway. I was thinking about getting a shot or two from the overhead pedestrian bridge, but I didn't get around to it. Next time perhaps. Riverside - Downtown serves as both a terminus and an intermediate stop for three Metrolink lines: Riverside, 91/Perris Valley, and the Inland Empire-Orange County. All trains on the Riverside Line terminate at this station, along with most IE-OC trains and one from the 91/PV Line. The rest of the 91/PV trains and a handful of IE-OC trains continue onwards toward South Perris and San Bernardino - Downtown respectively. This is all on weekdays. On weekends, no services are available on the Riverside Line, and only two round trips take place on the 91/PV and IE-OC lines. Riverside - Downtown only serves as an intermediate stop on weekends. In addition, this station is also served by two daily Amtrak Southwest Chief trains, one in each direction, and you'll see one of them in the video. Metrolink trainsets not in use are kept on storage tracks just a few hundred feet north of the station, as seen in the video. This may be a stop for Metrolink and Amtrak trains, but it also sits along tracks owned by freight carriers: BNSF and Union Pacific. Going south through the station, the left tracks are BNSF-owned, and the one on the right is owned by UP. Amtrak Southwest Chief, and Metrolink 91/PV and IE-OC trains use the BNSF right-of-way, while the Metrolink Riverside Line uses the UP route. Not too much action during the time I was out here. But the action I did get was not bad. Got horn taps from all train crews, and caught the Southwest Chief. I was expecting just a tad bit more freight trains here, but oh well. Train 2: BNSF WB Q-Intermodal - ET44C4 #3925, ET44C4 #3896, ET44C4 #3920, and C44-9W #4194. Train 3: BNSF EB Z-Train - ES44C4 #7155, ES44DC #7243, C44-9W #5098, and C44-9W #5375. Train 4: Amtrak 4 (Southwest Chief) - P42DC #138 (Phase VII) and P42DC #33. The latter showing signs of age...138 was the fourth P42 to receive the Phase VII paint scheme.
