He Saw Something in the Moonlight. Then He Vanished. | The Moonlit Road

Three accounts. One death. And a moonlit road where the truth becomes increasingly difficult to separate from the supernatural. Ambrose Bierce’s The Moonlit Road is an unusual ghost story told from three different perspectives, each revealing another piece of a tragedy involving memory, guilt, and the restless dead. Rather than giving the reader a single reliable version of events, Bierce allows each voice to reshape what came before — leaving the truth somewhere between testimony and haunting. This episode forms part of The Moonlit Gathering, a special collection of strange tales chosen for the full moon.
