राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की जयंती (2 अक्टूबर) के अवसर पर मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त (CEC) ज्ञानेश कुमार के इस्तीफे की मांग को लेकर आइसा (AISA), विभिन्न छात्र संगठनों और सिविल सोसाइटी द्वारा जंतर-मंतर पर बुलाए गए विशाल विरोध प्रदर्शन के मद्देनजर दिल्ली पुलिस ने जनपथ रोड और टॉल्स्टॉय मार्ग समेत पूरे इलाके की कड़ी नाकेबंदी कर दी है। सुबह 11 बजे प्रस्तावित इस प्रदर्शन को रोकने के लिए पुलिस ने क्षेत्र में भारतीय नागरिक सुरक्षा संहिता की धारा 163 (पूर्व में धारा 144) लागू कर दी है, जिसके चलते जनपथ स्थित इंपीरियल होटल के पास बैरिकेडिंग कर भारी संख्या में दिल्ली पुलिस, रैपिड एक्शन फोर्स (RAF) और आंसू गैस से लैस वाहनों को तैनात किया गया है। जंतर-मंतर की ओर जाने वाले तमाम रास्तों को सील करने और सुरक्षा कारणों से कई मेट्रो स्टेशनों को बंद किए जाने के कारण जहां आम यात्रियों को भारी आवाजाही में परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ रहा है, वहीं प्रशासन यह सुनिश्चित करने में जुटा है कि कोई भी प्रदर्शनकारी धरना स्थल तक न पहुंच सके। An eyewitness account has emerged regarding the multi-layered barricading and security arrangements implemented by the Delhi Police on the roads leading from Ashoka Road and Tolstoy Marg to prevent the protest organized at Jantar Mantar on October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. According to a video report, personnel from the Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force (RAF), and paramilitary forces have been deployed in a three-tier security ring; additionally, 'Vajra' vehicles and tear-gas launching vehicles have been stationed at the site for crowd control and dispersal.
