14th Sunday after Pentecost (Good Overcoming Evil)

Sermon Text: Romans 12:17, 19, 21 Overcome evil with good. Goodness prevails when the love of the Lord overcomes sin, hurt, and indifference. Therefore, why do we still make it our problem? Trying to punish other people is trying to exercise God's vengeance for Him and not forgiving others is trying to withhold God's forgiveness from people. When God peered into creation to see all our bad decisions and habits, He still chose to create you and forgive you in Christ. He did this for all the people who sinned against us as well. Christ came to save those who sinned against us. The best thing we can do is not excuse the sins done against us but confront those who sin with Christ's word of Law and then his promise of forgiveness. Overcome evil with good by bringing God's goodness into evil situations.
