Canada vs USA hunting packs: can the Canadian-made Backcountry Monashee Ridgeline 7500 replace the USA-made Stone Glacier Sky Talus 6900 I have trusted for seven years?
After an extra $250 CAD was added to my last Stone Glacier order through FedEx, I started looking more seriously at Canadian-made hunting gear. That search led me to the Backcountry Monashee Ridgeline 7500.
In this initial Ridgeline 7500 review, I compare this new Canadian hunting pack with what I have learned from seven years carrying my Stone Glacier 6900. I break down the full front access, expandable spotting scope pockets, roll-top capacity, hip belt, MOLLE panel, organization and overall versatility.
There is a lot to love about the Ridgeline 7500, but the early-production aluminum frame in the pack I received began flexing with approximately 35 to 40 pounds. That stopped me from trusting it directly in sheep country.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: The pack shown in this video was one of the early Ridgeline 7500 units and arrived with aluminum stays. Since filming, Backcountry Monashee has confirmed that production packs are now shipping with carbon stays instead of aluminum.
Richard has also publicly shown additional changes addressing several of the points raised in this review:

I have not received or independently tested the updated carbon stays or hip belt yet. This video documents the pack I actually received, the issues I found and how quickly Backcountry Monashee responded to the feedback.
Once the updated components arrive, I will load the pack properly, put some mountain miles on it and publish a follow-up.

Would you take the updated carbon-stay setup directly into sheep country, or would you want to see it tested against the Stone Glacier first?
Disclosure: I purchased this pack with my own money. This is not a paid review.
