Are you interested in majoring in nursing? Max Burnham, International Student Advisor, talks about the nursing programs at Green River College. Green River offers 2 pathway options: an Associate Degree in Pre-Nursing and a Practical Nursing Degree. Demand is high for nurses. Commitment is key.
Option 1: Associate Degree in Pre-Nursing is the most popular. Students take all their prerequisites at GRC (2 years), then take a year of clinical work experience (OPT) which is important for their transfer application, and then transfer to a four-year university for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This pathway is if the student wants to become a registered nurse.
Option 2: Practical Nursing Degree - Students take 1 to 1.5 years of nursing pre-requisite classes at GRC and then apply to the LPN program at GRC (competitive). To apply for the BSN program at Green River, students need to complete the LPN program.
GPA needs to be at least 3.0 to transfer to the most competitive universities. Admissions officers will also be reviewing your clinical experience. Grades are important, but so is clinical experience.
