This is an independent, comprehensive microphone shootout between four popular small diaphragm condenser microphones (SDC): sE Electronics sE8 Rode NT5 Oktava MK012 Studio Projects C4 MKII in CARDIOID and OMNI (with their proprietary cardioid and omni capsules). This is not intended to be a scientific evaluation, it gives an impression of the different sound characteristics of each model. All audio was recorded in stereo, the microphones were placed in a row, preferably, to minimize acoustic "shadowing" from adjacent microphones. The distance to the source was approximately 0.6m / 2ft, to balance out sound differences due to the variation in mic positioning.
