DON'T COUNT ME OUT JIMMIE BRATCHER - Lyric Video

From the album Far Enough - Don't Count Me Out (c)&(p) 2023 Eric Stark Music Jimmie: The great baseball legend Yogi Berra said, “It ain’t over till it’s over!” I know in my life there have been times when quitting was the right thing to do, yet still feel the need to not give up. Many times that last bit of strength and determination is all that’s needed for a breakthrough into something wonderful. Sherri and I quit on each other, and at the time it was the right thing to do. However, even after we said the “D” word, and got the D-I-V-O-R-C–E it still wasn’t over. Why? Because someone wasn’t done! After our divorce, Sherri sought the help of a mentor, a former school teacher, whom she respected and who had helped her growing up. One day her mentor asked what seemed like a very reasonable question, “What is your plan going forward?” Sherri answered, “Well, Jesus saved me so I’m going to believe that He will save Jimmie and put our marriage back together.” Her mentor responded by saying, “Well, you need another plan. He’s not the type to be saved.” Needless to say, Sherri was angry and very disappointed in her mentor's response, and rather than just accepting it, she appealed to a higher authority saying, “Okay God, what do you say about it?” She then randomly flipped open her Bible, pointed to a passage, and read these words, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household." (Acts 16:31) In that moment of desperate faith, it made no sense, yet it made perfect sense. That moment of faith and many others like it are the foundation of our lives and family. I am so glad that Sherri didn’t “Count Me Out.” Insert this picture here with this caption if possible. There’s a joke that says, “They tell me something happens when you get old but I can’t remember what it is!” Which describes how this song came about to be. During one of our writing sessions, Eric mentioned a song that he had written for me several years prior. And I said, “What song?” He proceeded to tell me all about this song that he had written for me, and I honestly had no idea what he was talking about. So after digging through the archives he found it and I’m so glad that he did… Enjoy Eric: This album has some pretty heavy lyrical material on it so, we thought we needed something light-hearted to provide a respite. I reminded Jimmie of a song I sent him years ago that he had passed on at the time. He couldn’t remember the song so I showed him the lyrics and explained how I envisioned the music going. I always liked the song and thought it had potential. I was glad when he heard it this time, he wanted to record it. The song has something in common with some of the other songs, in that it’s about a guy who is unlucky in love. We had a lot of fun with this one.
