I present to you my Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil speedrun completed in 45 minutes without using the artifact at all and without taking any damage whatsoever.
This run was played on the original game and its hardlocked 62.5fps, and not on dhewm3 sourceport. The only thing I changed is the crosshair, replacing it with a high resolution version.
At the end I forgot to stop the timer as I thought it was gonna stop by itself because of the cutscene, but it didn't. I forgot to set up my load remover properly. It doesn't really matter honestly.
======
Ever since my initial, segmented no damage run of the main campaign on the dhewm3 sourceport, I wondered if such a thing was possible, but for real.
Then, after finishing with the SoF2 Speedrun Mod about 3 months ago, I decided to find out just that. However, I wanted to try it with a shorter game first. So I started playing Resurrection of Evil again.
This run took me a few months of planning, routing, testing and attempts and it was probably the most difficult challenge run I have ever completed to this day.
I can't stress enough how much of a test this was for my patience, perseverance and sanity.
This challenge broke my heart multiple times.
The run itself is not stellar by any means and it can be performed much faster and cleaner. However, when there is only 1 point of damage between me continuing and resetting back to Erebus 1, I tend to go for consistency and take what I can get.
Honestly, I severely underestimated the insane number of ways a no damage speedrun can die. I have probably seen more unusual and insane situations in the last 2 months than in the entire time I have played Doom 3 before this challenge.
This run put me so much out of my comfort zone by constraining me and by forcing me to find other ways to deal with tricky situations.
I have also found more interesting things about the game in the process and I am super thankful for that.
Anyways, I am happy I finally completed this challenge and I will most likely be moving on to the base campaign.
