At trial (the courtroom video is timestamped 09/14/22), Officer Oliver testified on direct examination to smelling alcohol, observing slurred speech and unsteadiness, and Fernandez's admission to drinking "a couple of beers." On cross-examination, however, Officer Oliver — who had previously testified he was the only officer at the scene — was confronted with the department's CAD dispatch record and admitted that a second officer, identified as Deputy People, had actually been present, correcting his own prior sworn testimony in front of the jury.
